Success Begins with Relationships
If there is one thing I have learned about succeeding in business it is this: It begins with relationships with people. Stated another way, “it’s not the what but the who.”
Some years ago, Stephen Covey wrote a great book on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. #6 on that list was the importance of creating SYNERGY by which he meant that the power of several people, when combined, is more powerful than the sum of their individual parts.
The more people are willing to share with others the stories of their networking successes, the better off we will all be. That is the impetus for this webpage. Remember that every business transaction has its basis in a personal relationship.
Take ten minutes today to write out a story of how connecting with another person transformed your business career.
I guarantee it will benefit someone. Then the law of reciprocity will kick in and you will be the recipient of unanticipated connectedness. If you are willing, include your contact information so that others may connect with you.
Here is One quick example of how doing something for another ended up benefitting my business career in a huge way. In July of 2008, I drove twelve hours round trip to Sun Valley Idaho to give a speech as a favor for a friend. The unanticipated benefit was a great meeting with the famous Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple. That led to a series of discussions where he eventually joined the company for which I would later become CEO – Fusion-io. Steve became our Chief Scientist.
Your participation in this sharing of networking stories does not guarantee your success but it certainly will increase your odds.
